Dr. Lauren Mahoney is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Authentically Living Psychological Services, PLLC. She enjoys supporting clients as they make sense of the internal experiences that often feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to name. Lauren works with teens, women, and caregivers navigating anxiety, burnout, identity shifts, and life transitions, helping them better understand themselves and move toward a more grounded, aligned way of living.
A Thoughtful Background with a Holistic Lens
Lauren’s clinical training spans school-based, clinical, and community settings, where she has worked with individuals across a wide range of emotional and developmental needs. Her background includes experience supporting adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and complex life stressors. With additional training in areas such as the mind-body connection and nutrition, Lauren brings a holistic perspective to her work, recognizing that emotional well-being is often shaped by the interaction between physical, relational, and psychological experiences. This broader lens allows her to approach each client with both depth and flexibility, considering the full picture of who they are and what they’re navigating.
Therapeutic Approach: Relational, Insight-Oriented, and Integrative
Lauren takes a relational and integrative approach to therapy, drawing from acceptance and mindfulness-based work while remaining grounded in the therapeutic relationship itself. She focuses on helping clients better understand the patterns, thoughts, and emotional experiences that shape how they move through the world. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, Lauren works collaboratively with clients to build awareness, increase emotional flexibility, and create meaningful shifts over time. Her style is warm, grounded, and direct, offering both support and gentle challenge in a way that helps clients engage more honestly with themselves and their experiences.
Supporting Identity, Burnout, & Life Transitions
Lauren works closely with individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves, particularly those who are used to holding everything together on the outside. She has a strong interest in supporting high-functioning women, mothers, and caregivers navigating burnout, identity shifts, and the pressure of balancing multiple roles. She also works with teens and young adults exploring identity, direction, and life transitions, helping them build confidence, emotional awareness, and a stronger sense of self.
Perinatal Mental Health, Grief, & Living through Uncertainty
Lauren has specialized experience supporting individuals through postpartum depression, PMDD, reproductive loss, and the broader emotional impact of grief and life disruption. She brings a thoughtful and deeply attuned presence to work with grief, chronic illness, and the emotional weight of navigating uncertainty.
She supports individuals processing loss in its many forms, whether that be the loss of a person, a version of life, or a sense of stability and control. Her approach makes space for the complexity of these experiences, including the parts that feel hard to name, allowing clients to process at their own pace while staying connected to themselves and their lives.
A Personal Philosophy for Healing
Lauren believes that therapy is not about fixing something that is broken, but about understanding yourself more fully. Through increased awareness, self-compassion, and intentional change, she helps clients develop a different relationship with themselves and their lives. Her work centers on helping individuals slow down, make sense of their experiences, and begin to move forward with greater clarity, flexibility, and self-trust.
