New York Mental Health Counselor with Keen Sensitivity for Human Justice and Disability Communities

Sapira Cahana is a mental health counselor in New York. As a graduate of Pace University, she brings a unique perspective to counseling, grounded in her background in philosophy, Hebrew studies, the disability community, and advocacy. With a deep understanding of the human condition, Sapira works with clients to explore life’s fundamental questions, helping them confront personal struggles and find meaning in their experiences. Whether dealing with anxiety, identity, or purpose, Sapira provides a straightforward, existential approach to therapy that encourages self-reflection and growth.

A Diverse Background in Existential, Relational and Experiential Therapies

Sapira views therapy as a devotional act of self-discovery. Therapy with Sapira is guided by the principle of following your grander visions—visions that often lead to serpentine and unforeseen developments. Together, therapy becomes a process of entwining and unwinding, where you will have support in delving deeper into your authentic self while navigating the discord between your inner vision and the external pressures, changes, and challenges of the world around you.

In this journey, Sapira sees herself as your reflective collaborator, aiming to expound on the meanings of your experiences and explore the tensions that arise from the relationship between who you are and how you are expected to show up. The therapy process is deeply rooted in the belief that wisdom resides within the abyss, and is at the heart of all healing. It is in this space that we can uncover your deepest truths, explore dissonances, and nurture new, corrective kinship relations.

A Space for Exploration and Self-Discovery

Sapira envisions the therapeutic space as a cave, much like in Plato’s allegory—an atemporal space for contemplating Being as a sacred and transformative act. In this cave, Sapira serves as your reflective collaborator, grounding you in the present moment and helping you reconnect with your inner core. Together, you will confront and harmonize the fractures between your personal and social realities, guiding you toward self-transcendence. In this state, your relationships and service to the world can coexist in harmony, no longer in conflict.

Therapy for Caregivers, Disabilities, LGBTQ+ Individuals, and Artists

Whether you are a caregiver, navigating the complexities of supporting others while maintaining your own well-being, an individual with disabilities seeking empowerment, a member of the LGBTQ+ community working to explore your identity, or an artist grappling with the unique challenges of creativity, therapy with Sapira is a relational process of unveiling your love of life. Together, you will explore both the acceptance and rejection of what is to help you find experiences of emancipation and create lasting transformation.

This approach draws from a confluence of psychological and social theories, integrating them to foster an environment where experiential change is possible. By braiding together these threads, Sapira aims to create a sanctuary, a cave of solace, where you can find respite, heal, and step into a life that aligns with your truest self. All while having a warm comforting presence with you in this journey.
